I'm Not a Fitness Person.
I Was You.

"I randomly jumped on a treadmill in college, out of shape, and felt like death. I started and stopped a hundred times before it stuck."

Where It Started

I Spent My Lunch Money on Ramen and a Blizzard.

I'm a chubby kid at heart. Carbs were my favorite food group. I used my lunch money to get ramen and a Blizzard at ballet camp. I'd come home and make myself a personal no-bake cookie. My relationship with food was the exact relationship most of my callers have — not abusive, just completely uninformed.

"I randomly jumped on a treadmill in college, out of shape, and felt like death. I started and stopped a hundred times before it stuck. I was you."

That's not a talking point. That's what earns the right to be certain on this show. A skeptical caller cannot dismiss me as someone who was always fit, someone for whom this came naturally. I'm not telling you to do anything I didn't do, in the exact order I'm telling you to do it.

"The declarative certainty you'll hear every episode isn't arrogance — it's hard-won. Nuance is what got you sick. The Sick Care System gave you nothing but hedging. This show doesn't hedge."

— Miranda Essig, The Long Strongs

The Sick Care System Was Never Designed to Make You Healthy.

It profits from the treatment of symptoms, not the elimination of causes. Callers on this show have been told to "eat less, move more" for years. They've been handed prescriptions for conditions that respond directly to lifestyle change. They've been sent home with nothing.

The framework exists because the Sick Care System won't give it to you. Seven steps. In order. Without skipping. That's the antidote.

Every Caller. Every Problem. One Framework.

The show is modeled on the call-in format — real people, real problems, real names. The host already knows the answer before the caller finishes their sentence, because the answer always runs through the 7 steps. In order. Without skipping.

"Where are you on the baby steps? What's your protein looking like today?"

That's the show. That's every episode. Fifty episodes in, the listeners will be able to diagnose callers themselves — and that's the point.

What This Show Stands For

The Non-Negotiables

Certainty

No hedging. No "it depends." The framework is the answer. Nuance is what got you sick.

Identity

You don't just change behaviors — you change who you are. You become a Long Strong.

Order

Seven steps. In order. Without skipping. Every caller starts at Step 1 until Step 1 is locked in.

Obligation

Health is a character issue. Being the parent they get to keep isn't optional — it's a commitment.

Accountability

Social pressure isn't a workaround. It's a feature. Shame-free, judgment-free, accountability-full.

Longevity

Not looking good for summer. Living long enough to know your grandchildren. That's what this is about.

Said Every Episode

The Liturgy

Five phrases. Every episode. Forever. Don't add a sixth for two years.

"Get gazelle intense."

Decide. Attack. Finish. No half-measures, no excuses.

"Protein and fiber, fiber and protein."

The daily nutritional anchor. The Long Strongs' version of beans and rice.

"Choose your hard."

Pay now in effort, or pay the Sick Care System later in years and medical bills.

"Be the parent they get to keep."

Health is a character issue and a family obligation — not just a physical goal.

"I'm around for it."

The caller's milestone declaration. Say it loud. This is the debt-free scream.

"Show up for yourself now, so later you can show up for them."

The closing liturgy. Said every episode, forever.
